The article in the link combines assessments from the LGBTQ+ index, and other surveys to conclude which countries are safe and enjoyable places for the LBTQ+ to visit, and which to avoid. Sweden is currently top of the list, followed by Canada, Norway, Portugal and Belgium. The UK comes in at no 6 but the USA at 24.
Places to avoid are countries where the death penalty for same-sex relationships is enforced or on the statue books, such as Iran, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Nigeria and the Yemen. Travellers are also warned about the dangers of visiting Jamaica, Indonesia, China, and Russia with caution for other Caribbean islands such as St Lucia and Barbados, though I was once told Barbados was the most relaxed Caribbean island for same-sex relationships, and the list also suggest 'considering' visiting places like Singapore.

Another survey, by Gay Cities, argues Brazil has a lamentable record of murders of LGBTQ+ and this makes it one of the most dangerous places to visit. I assume in all cases that a degree of discretion and knowledge of those parts of the cities and towns makes the difference between an enjoyable night out or a trip to the morgue, or the casualty department. After all, take a wrong turning or do something reckless in the woods in Paris and you might regret it for the rest of your life.

The Caribbean is all homophobic. it's a matter of degrees between countries. Barbados is probably at the lower end of the scale in terms of hostility, but it's not all tolerant and welcoming.
Jamaica is the worst,since they even have public burnings of gays.
Barbados, Trinidad and Tobago, and St. Lucia aren't LBGT-friendly at all, and daily life there is pretty homophobic. There aren't as many gay killings like Jamaica, and there are a few LGBT celebs in T&T, but overall it's not an accepting place for that.
