Re: Breast implants - illness and expectations
Very tragic, very sad....
Carolin Berger, German porn star nicknamed Cora, dead after sixth breast enlargement surgery

The sixth breast enlargement was just too much for one German porn star.
Carolin Berger, better known as Cora, died on Thursday afternoon from complications suffered during her sixth breast augmentation surgery.
Berger, 23, wanted to increase her bust from a 34F to a 34G.
The tattooed film star, who garnered headlines as a contestant on Germany's "Big Brother," had been put in an artificial coma at the Hamburg University Hospital on Jan. 11, the BBC reported.
It's believed that Berger suffered two cardiac arrests after the surgery. According to reports, she decided to go under the knife to keep up her publicity.
"The brain damage was too great," her husband, Tim, told The Sun. "Her blood pressure dropped steadily, physiological functions gave out - then she went to sleep quietly."
German cops are investigating the anesthesiologist and the surgeon who performed the operation.
"The senseless death of 'Big Brother' star Cora shocks the whole of Germany," read Bild, the country's tabloid.
"[Her] frail, 48kg [106 pound] body struggled against death for 224 hours. She lost. Cora is dead!"

Re: Breast implants - illness and expectations
How sad indeed. Only 23 years old. Such a waste of life. And all for money. Was it worth it?

Re: Breast implants - illness and expectations
the problem is that when you point out a story like this, especially when it involves a girl we knew, it gives the wrong impression. its like if you put up a story of a tgirl in brazil getting HIV from her dentist during a root canal...would the implication be that because someone got aids from their dentist that we should all be wary of them....no.
there are 1000s of breast augmentations done each day without any complications. there are risks involved in every procedure, but if you are getting any procedure done by a board certified plastic surgeon with a good track record, its likely to be a success because breast augmentation is about as standard as a root canal.

The point of the story -which is developed in today's press - s that a particular rogue company in France was using sub-standard material which has made some people ill.
The wider issue i raised was the way the background culture makes women so dissatisfied with their bodies,

Re: Breast implants - illness and expectations
To speak to the wider issue of body dysmorphic disorder, whether you believe it is a rampant as some shrinks want you to believe or not, means that you want to address the root cause of WHY women (trans or genetic) choose to go under the knife.
let's put it this way...do you dress in ragged tshirts and smelly sweatpants everyday? do you let your hair run wild, uncut, unwashed and unstyled. do you not cut your fingernails and leave them long and dirty?
if yes, then i see your point, but please stay away.
if no, then you are victim to the same social pressures to look presentable that we all are. if you dress well, cut/comb your hair etc...you must realize that you make choices to look good based on what society says looks good. You don't run out side in a plaid shirt with white bellbottom pants and a mullet. It is no different with surgical procedures used to change your looks. You, as many will say, might claim that one is far more invasive than the other, but its not the point...everyone makes choices because of what we perceive our role in society to be. Society has trends and a market for everyone. You can't claim that its the culture telling women that they need large breasts because it just isn't true. Almost all fashion models have little to no boobage. Most women in hollywood have average b-c cups which is what the normal boob size in america is but A cup cuties do just fine in the media as well. There are very few D-cup hotties that have mainstream success...they are usually regulated to b-movies and porn. Pick up one fashion magazine and show me any girl in it that has the size of tits sarina valentina has.
My point is that there is less and less pressure from society to have breast augmentation. Maybe 25 years ago when silicone implants were all the rage and they couldn't make them fast enough, but now, its just simply a choice a woman makes as easily as if she should get tattooed or get a new color of lipstick. its not a big deal to have them or not. it really isn't.
that said...you are on a forum that is a genre of porn unique to itself. for financial reasons, tgirls have to be more considerate of the costs/benefits of implants because not all can afford the best doctors or are internet porn stars rolling in cash. more importantly is the issue of what it means to be a woman. if you are a female, you have a leg up because genetically, you are generally predisposed to develop into a woman. as a male, genetically predisposed to develop into a man, to transition, you have to take a hormone regimen that also truly screws with your neurochemistry and normal physiological function. taking oral premarin or whatever each girl is on is not without complications as well. so...to be a woman means you have secondary sex characteristics commensurate with femininity. Boobs are one of them. So if a girl will feel more feminine with implants, that's not society telling her that, that is her desire to look/appear more how she feels on the inside.
I think perhaps, after re-reading your post, though your intent may not have been to do so...you are clearly so biased that you can't realize what you really said. you said...
Why cannot we men and the wider culture support women looking the way that they were built (by God or nature) rather than them buying into this stereotype and engaging in surgery which can be so dangerous. And even if not it often leaves unsightly scars.

Re: Breast implants - illness and expectations
yeah, but it could have happened during any procedure because, if the reports i read are accurate, she went into cardiac arrest before the plastic surgeon even got to her...the anesthesiologist botched his job and that's why he was charged with manslaughter. could have happened if she had the same anesthesiologist for a hernia operation or to have her knee scoped.
