Re: Poll: Bareback or not to Bareback
So as I said its not 100% and its not 99% that's pure B/S it is nothing more then a copy of the PEP we have here in the UK which is upto (upto being a key word here) 80% effective in stopping HIV infection in someone if they start a months course the day after they have unprotected sex.
Are you for real? theres homophobia, transphobia, and hate and persecution in the world and the scourge of islam which are the real human rights issues and you think barebacking is a humans right issue? You are clearly a fool and a poor excuse of a human being for having such a selfish mind set.

Re: Poll: Bareback or not to Bareback
PEP is 80% effective because the person is using it as an emergency solution!!!! It's the same difference as the morning after pill or the birth control pill! The point of truvada is to take it every day. Taken correctly is IS 99% effective. Even condoms aren't THAT effective!!!
While I am a huge proponent of barebacking, I am NOT saying barebacking is the human rights issue here. The human rights issue is that people need to at least KNOW what their options are. The disgusting thing to me is that LGBT activists are not ballyhooing this because of what the straights might say.

Re: Poll: Bareback or not to Bareback
Well heres a quote from the CDC:
"That’s an approach called pre-exposure prophylaxis, or PrEP. PrEP means taking a daily pill (brand name, Truvada) for months or years. This keeps medication in your body to keep HIV from making copies of itself and spreading infection through your body anytime you are exposed"
So Turvada does not stop you getting infected, it only stops the virus spreading in your system, so you can either have safe sex and no HIV or have unprotected sex with Truvada and forever have it in your system, just not spreading until the second you stop the tablets at which point it will spread and develop into AIDS.
and heres another quote further down in the article:
"There is also validity to fears about “barebacking.” Even if PrEP protects against HIV, condomless sex still invites other STDs. Some, like syphilis, gonorrhea, and herpes, are fairly easily treatable. But in recent years, there have been outbreaks among HIV-positive men of sexually transmitted hepatitis C, for which treatment is improving but still difficult, expensive, and imperfect. In certain parts of the world, such as Japan and India, a new antibiotic-resistant strain of gonorrhea has rung alarm bells of a new STD epidemic. Simply put, nobody knows what new infections lie in wait down the road."
Because they are dealing with far more important issues such as equality and acceptance and being protected by the law.
You are making this out to be a human rights issue in itself which is very naïve and selfish. If you want to bareback go ahead as long as you let your sexual partners know before hand, but you should not be promoting it, especially on a site like this where the men aint gay or in the gay community and not as informed and are at risk at seeing what you are saying and going and making a mistake which could effect them for the rest of their life.

Re: Poll: Bareback or not to Bareback
You don't understand how HIV works, clearly. The HIV virus enters your body and begins making copy after copy of itself. It needs to do this in order to gain a foothold in your immune system forever. This is seroconversion. PEP prevents the virus from making copies. It doesn't stay inside you forever and wait to come out when you go off PEP if you haven't seroconverted. It's simply flushed out of your body along with all the other myriad floaters that your body encounters on a daily basis.
Also, HEP C is very hard to get sexually. 1% infection rate over year long studies between partners. BUT if you are HIV positive already, it's a different story. The solution: make sure people don't get HIV!!! Hey! Guess what! There is a pill that is extremely effective at doing just that! It's called Truvada
