i think there's some confusion between what is and isn't realistic. But I'm also not quite sure the DSLR's under 1,000usd are quality enough. My d5200 definitely isn't high enough quality for amateur or professional photos. It's a beginner's entry-level dslr, and it was right around that price range.

I do not agree with this at all. He made a post about doing porn. Is he real? I do not know nor do I care. On the change he might be real.
For me being in Halifax I do not have any pro guys I can work with. I have to use/look for guys like this. Most are a one time thing. But as long as I get the contract signed and film done, who cares. Most times out of 10 apply's 1 might come through. It is time consuming and can get frustrating. But you have to do what you have to do. Again as I have said some of my best work has come from guys like this.

Some people like a more amateur set up I find it sexier and more realistic rather than the perfection of brazzers etc coming across a bit un genuine kind of sex. Anyway the point I'm making is if the guy is serious he has to start somewhere.

Sorry Skye, but your d5200 is most defintely good enough to produce pro quality photo's, you just need to learn how to get the most from it...
Setting aside full frame camera's which are a different breed, the difference between the "pro spec" models and your d5200 and is mainly better build quality and ruggedness to survive being used as a work tool everyday, i.e. metal body, weather/dust sealing, etc. A lot of professionals will use the likes of a d5200 as a spare body because they are lighter and cheaper than their main camera. Often, it's the same sensor used in both cameras.
I knew a professional photographer who's main camera for several years was a Nikon d7000, which in some respects is inferior to your d5200.

I had a D5000 before moving on to my current gear. To be really general, it's all about understanding light, aperture, and shutterspeed.

This official "digitutor" will get you started in understanding your camera - but I also suggest joining some local photography clubs to increase your knowledge. Again, the D5100 is a fine body!
