Re: RIP Kim Devine
Easy Tiger ...
If I was told ANY of my friends had died, I think my first question would be "what happened" or "how".
I take your point if the interest is prurient, but just being told someone that young has died, whether surrounded by family of not, leaves a bit of a hole if you don't know the circumstances.

Re: RIP Kim Devine
It's a normal impulse to want to know why someone died.
I've had close relatives who died while I was in the hospital and a doctor still couldn't give me the specifics about what literally started the death process.
Learning why someone dies can be a precaution for those of us still living, so I don't know why it's some big secret other than respecting the privacy of the family.
Also I don't think it's shameful to find out someone died from HIV.

Re: RIP Kim Devine
As far as I am aware, none of you are family or close friends (myself included). I'm sure they know more. It's unnecessary for it to be shared with us if it's not already in the public domain.

Re: RIP Kim Devine
Fine, but what I disagree with is that it's somehow 'morbid' or prurient to know and understand the death process.
That's a very normal, natural human impulse.
Of course, some people use the details of someone's death to judge their lives after the fact.
But for me personally it's just an interest in knowing what happened.
No one is suggesting her family has an obligation to share that info either.

Re: RIP Kim Devine
.....I meant to suggest perhaps the cutting of a little slack might be in order as well when I saw this ystdy. Someone I admired and whose work I respected has passed suddenly and unexpectedly and at a very young age....I'm gonna say, well shit, that's a stone drag...., what the heck happened? Doesn't seem like an unnecessary question to me....certainly by no means "morbid"
.....this guy, on the other hand
...totally unnecessary
