Gluten free vodka ? WTF
Just noticed these ads for "gluten free vodka " and other spirits .

I also find it vaguely insulting . As anyone exposed to middle school level science would know , distillation leaves behind heavy molecules , gluten is a protein , proteins are orders of magnitude larger than non organic molecules like alcohol. Yet this gluten free mania trumps education.
This is so patently absurd it reminds me of a "South Park " episode . Like their recent "Whole Foods" and "Politically Correct " series.

You posted a link to a list of gluten-free liquors from a gluten-free blogger. She's just posting stuff that doesn't have gluten.

Gluten free Vodka isn't a new thing. A lot of Vodka has always been distilled from Potatoes. It is a new marketing angle though.

And you're an expert on marketing, aren't you? Do your Truvada masters encourage you to post about non-Truvada related topics? Or perhaps they plan on releasing gluten-free Truvada soon? What about Gluten-free vodka infused with Truvada? That could be a real good one: get drunk and have worry-free bareback sex!

Re: Gluten free vodka ? WTF
Nice to see Ben Miller in that ad , loved him in the first season of " Death in Paradise".
My whole point is that regardless of weather the alcohol is distilled from potatoes , wheat , cane or rye there is no gluten that survives the distillation process. So the whole 'gluten free' thing is just a marketing hoax.
Furthermore , gluten intolerance only affects 0.5 to 13 % of the population , with greater prevalence in people with Asian than European ancestry . It is something that most of us needn't be concerned about.

Re: Gluten free vodka ? WTF
Actually, distillation of vodka began long before the potato even arrived in Europe and, in fact, very little vodka is made from potatoes.

There's an interesting article about it here, though the short version is we won't know until some research is done.
