bridge collapse
this may be a little late but...........
For those that haven't seen the news, the 35W bridge in Minneapolis collapsed at around 6PM central time. There were believed to be more than 50 cars involved, with 20 or them going into the water. CNN has only confirmed three deaths at the time of posting.

It's crazy. I, and nearly everyone I know, have been across that bridge hundreds of times. Nobody knows what the cause was yet. I'm going out tonight. This is a pretty shitty deal.
I know a girl, who I talked to today, who drove across the I35 ten minutes before it collapsed.

It's very a weird deal. I've heard of one person who knew somebody who died, but nobody I know personally was on the bridge. It is a hugely significant event around here. That was a pretty important bridge, not sure how long it will take to build a new one.
I'm going to walk down and check out the scene tomarrow. I'm hoping all the bodies will be pulled out of the river by then. I definately don't need to see anything like that.

Damn. I went and got some breakfast (at Peter's Grill, which is open again, in case anyone was interested in a reference back to an old thread) and my waitress told me that President Bush was touring the bridge scene today.
I really didn't want to risk meeting George Bush, but what ya gonna do?
Then I left the diner, and it started to rain, so I went home. It's not like the bridge is going to be un-collapsed anytime soon. I'll probably go check it out on Monday. I was thinking of taking and posting some pictures, but I'm not quite sure if that would be a very honorable thing to do.
