He's absolutely correct. That's why it's also called OUI (operating under influence). All they have to prove in a court of law is that since you had a drink it impaired your ability to operate a motor vehicle in a safe and responsible manner. Hence get a good lawyer who specializes in this field.......

California is no where to mess with a DUI. Co worker of mine just got one, just over the limit and no collision. Single mother, no prior. You will be dealing with the court and the DMV, yes the same DMV individuals who are behind the counter at the local office. Attorney is necessary unless you are ready to lose your license for up to a year+. SR22 for insurance will add about 125% to your auto insurance. Not a pretty picture count on expenses of roughly $5,000. for fines and expenses. Hope you look good in Cal Trans orange cuz that is the color you'll be wearing during your community service if you get highway duty.

Anyway, I saw on 20/20 or Primetime (or some such) a wedding party on the way home in a limo on a highway and some drunk motherfucker was driving on the wrong side against traffic smashed and killed almost everyone in the limo. Imagine the sight of a bride sitting in shock on the side of the road with her 7 year old daughter's severed head in her lap while police and EMTs try to get people's body parts out the limo.

These no driving motherfuckers make the roads risky enough, don't add to it.

what scares me more is people who drive and talk on their cell phones.... it is almost a weekly occurance i get run off the road by some soccer mom who cant use an ear piece...their are high fines here 4 driving while using a cell phone but no one seems to care...

I always go drinking with my buddies, and 90% of the time i am the DD(designated driver) which means only soda for me that night. Find someone who is willing to drive you around, i know i love to drive my friends around and watch them make a total and complete ass of themselves, and even sometimes catch it on camera, so i can so them when they are sober :P

You Drink, You Drive, They Die, dont rob someone of their family member, this includes yourself too, youd be robbing your family, by killing yourself.

I got a dui after two drinks... I've spent $ 13 000 on a lawyer, worth every cent so far... with this came more accurate tests done by an actual doctor, proving that I wasn't intoxicated, a bartender as a whitness, a friend and a family member.

Those machines used by those stupid cops who can't even add 2 + 2 are complete bullshit, you have so many defenses, get a good lawyer.

Dude, WTF is your problem? Trying to start something out of nothing. If the guy was not drunk, one might expect that he would mention that he was'nt. The fact that he makes the statement that he feels like a dick would lead one to believe that he knows he was over the limit and got caught. Get back on your meds and clean up your act.

This reminds me of a funny story (at least I thought it was funny). Kris Kristofferson said in an interview that he finally gave up drinking after he emerged from a whiskey black-out while landing his helicopter.

That would have to have been one hell of a helicopter ride, good thing he stopped that sort of thing. I wouldn't want to be killed by Kris Kristofferson, or anyone else, drunkenly crashing a helicopter or other vehicle into me.

Had a good friend killed by a driver way over the limit, who had 4 previous convictions for drink driving!!

If you drink and drive then you're going to kill someone - probably not yourself. It's just a matter of time.

Just don't do it. Plan ahead, use public transport, designated driver, taxis, etc. Don't be dumb.

How on earth can you defend someone who confesses to it, or worse attack someone who rightly calls them on it? Since no one was hurt or killed its just (JUST) a financial and personal inconvenience.
Nearly 14,000 people died in this county last year from DUI related accidents. If the worst had happened, it would be more about doing hard time and dealing with a felony record after it.

You are in no way required to take it and if you do the results will be shoved up your ass in court. The best advice that I ever got regarding defense attorneys(in any matter) is to find one who is chummy with the prosecuting attorney in the case...depending on where you live and your local connections this could be very easy or very difficult...but it's worth the effort...believe me...I know. :wink:

I'm sober for 6 years. I'm in AA. You want to hear stories about drunk driving and the tragedies that come of it, go to a meeting and talk to a few people. Some were driving, some were in the cars of those driving, some were in other cars. All of the outcomes were horrific. And not all were deaths. A few will never walk again.

Please don't drink and drive. That's really all i can ask.
