there's no such thing as a "British" accent. There's Scottish (and subdivisions of that), Welsh, Yorkshire, Mancunian, Liverpudlian, Scouse, Cockney (if you call that an accent) etc.etc. What Americans generally think of as a "British" accent varies between an upper class accent (Prinz Charles and his sons) and the generally received pronunciation you hear on the BBC and, yes, Kate Winslet's accent.

Well my ex was from Bristol and her voice was the icing on the cake after her slaming figure and perfect smooth skintone. She did tell me that Brits often got over in the States because we think all British accents are high class.
